Jane Turland and Emma Cartwright and the Growing Business…..
They say you learn to cook from your Mother's apron strings….
so thank-you Mums for being fantastic teachers.
Before our lives crossed paths we both discovered we were expecting a set of twins which was a huge shock. Our lives were planned out in front of us and although we had hoped for more than one child, it was not expected that two would arrive at the same time. We met for the first time at the Camberley twins club, a place where you could share experiences and the joys of twins, and our friendship blossomed.
Soon we found that we could be dressed before nine in the morning and talk about more than four hourly feeds and colic. We shared a passion for making cakes and Cherry on the Top was born.
In 2002, when we started, we concentrated on making Birthday and Celebration cakes. Word soon spread and we started making Wedding cakes. Cherry on the Top had given us a small business providing a service for our local area, which we could fit around our families, and was an outlet for our creative skills. Please see our 'Cake Galleries' for just a small snippet of our work.
As the years passed we found we had more and more time to dedicate to our business, so we were able to expand. Our business now offers sugar flowers either sold individually or in bespoke sprays, edible photo printing, flowerpaste, food colours and ribbons which we sell UK wide. In order to make these products easier for our customers to buy we have launched a new online shop at  www.cherryonthetop.net. This business has gone from strength to strength and has allowed us to expand into what we are now – a business providing full time jobs for the both of us and a growing work force……
To be able to manage this, and give our customers the care an d attention they deserve, we decided to separate the cake business from the online shop business and have launched Morello Cakes Limited.
We wanted to ensure our cakes continued to be as individual as our customers are whilst still managing our shop and staff. Our cake business is 'our baby' where we do the hands on work which we love - making and decorating cakes in the same way we always have. We know it is a winning formula.
